Regent Seven Seas to take luxurious cruise around the British Isles
Seven Seas Voyager, coined as the World’s most luxurious ship, will be navigating around the British Isles on a 10 night cruise, which begins in Copenhagen on the 30th August 2008. To celebrate British culture, the Captain, John McNeill, has arranged numerous special events for guests during the sailing.
This will be Captain McNeill’s ‘Homecoming Cruise’ as he grew up in Scotland and is now a Southampton resident. Voyager will be calling in at; Edinburgh, Kirkwall, Portree, Belfast, Dublin, Cork, Bristol, Falmouth and Southampton.
Amidst the stunning Scottish scenery, guests will enjoy authentic Scottish traditions, with bagpipe music on deck, and the taste of whisky and haggis as the ship docks in Edinburgh. In Belfast, guests will experience a fun filled evening with an Irish dancing performance. Irish celebrations will continue in Dublin. In Bristol, the Lord Mayor will be presenting Captain McNeil with the City Key as part of a ceremony to commemorate the ‘Freedom of the City of Bristol’. The events continue in Falmouth, where guests will enjoy a special performance by a local pipe band whilst in Southampton, a surprise welcome awaits all! Further details about these and more special events to follow…watch this space!
Captain John McNeill, Regent Seven Seas Cruises, comments: “I want to make my homecoming cruise as exciting for my guests as it is for me, which is why I have organised these celebrations. Sailing around the British Isles is very close to my heart as I was born in Southern Ireland, grew up in Scotland and now live in the UK’s cruise capital, Southampton.”
Tom Wright, chief executive at VisitBritain said: “Britain has years of history and heritage and awe inspiring landscapes and this cruise looks set to showcase these attributes to their full advantage. There has never been a better time to visit Britain and I hope that this cruise around the British Isles on the Seven Seas Voyager highlights to both domestic and international guests our growing appeal as a cruise destination.”
Seven Seas Voyager is the youngest of the fleet with 350 all-balcony suites, with suites ranging from 356 – 1,403sq ft (including balcony). Culinary experiences are second-to-none on Voyager, with a choice of four restaurants (all offer open-seating, flexible dining) amongst which Signatures, which is affiliated to the famed Le Cordon Bleu Ecole Culinaire. Service on Regent ships is notoriously gracious and efficient, with all-inclusive fares - guests can truly relax throughout their cruise, with no unwelcome bill at the end.
On the day of her arrival in Southampton (9th September), Voyager will welcome over 60 British guests as she sets sail for Monte Carlo. In 2009 and beyond, Regent will be offering an increasing number of ex-UK departures and as such will be the only ultra-luxury cruise line catering to the growing number of British guests who want to sail to/from Britain, without flying.
