Freedom of the Seas high pressure sales by derekwebb
Sailing date: May 25th, 00:00
Cons: Spa high pressure selling of cosmetics whilst
My first cruise ever was not without event.
My wife booked a ladies night in the spa [Back,Scalp facial, foot and ankle massage followed by Sauna and champagen] on the Wednesday evening having returned to the ship from Jamaica. Arriving on time for the 50-minute treatment, she waited 30 minutes, without offer of the promised champagne, and without refreshments available [flasks and urns in waiting area were empty). Having had the therapies[not the champagne or Sauna]The therapist pursued for 10 minutes in her attempts to sell products to my wife, who had made it clear repeatedly that she would prefer an opportunity to select products another time. My wife felt the therapist’s attitude changed on not making a sale. They really should leave the high pressure sales on the shore after all we were there to unwind. Royal Caribbean need to review this as the high pressure sales must be a result of one target or another. Not acceptable.
The trips to Chukka horse riding in Jamaica and helmet diving in Cozumel were well oragnised and were worth the outlay.
The Windjammer was excellant apart from the sheer numbers trying to sit down at certain times. The food quality was above average for a buffet.
Chops Grille was excellant,
The pools on sea days are noisey and no control was made upon kids entering the adult only pool.
There is not enough time in the ports do do anything significant and maybe cutting one out and having more time in another would have been better.
Labadee was beautiful but dont go in the flea market it is not pleasant as the "shop" owners beg for sales.
The ice show ticketing was a waste of time as no tickets were checked and it was a first come free for all!
Room attendant was fantastic but room service leaves a lot to be desired.
I wouldnt but the drinks package as I did because it really saves you nothing unless you are going to drink sparkiling wine every night.
The set sail pass was to benefit Royal Caribbean alone and in now way allowed our boarding to be in any way quicker than anyone else whether they had a set sail pass or not. There was no special queue .
One highlight was the "man of a thousand songs" who played piano in the schooner bar every evening.
Also beware of a drink being thrust in your hand by the pool because it isnt free, but it was very nice.
All in All I dont know if we will go again it was like a posh Butlins [i.e the belly flop competition.etc] and I will choose more carefully next time!
